He won the 1982 Southern Open from Green Island Country Club in Columbus, GA. He was also a member of the 1982 World Cup team. In 1984, he was the youngest player to earn more than $500,000. A three-time all-American at Brigham Young University, Clampett twice earned the Fred Haskins Award, presented annually to the top collegiate player. He graduated with honors from BYU in just three years. He was also the low amateur at the 1978 U.S. Open at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, CO. Clampett joined CBS Sports in 1991 as a course reporter for the Network's broadcast of the PGA Championship. He is now a full-time member of the CBS golf team, and retired from the PGA Tour in 1995. In addition, he has been Turner Sports' main professional golf analyst since 1991, covering the PGA Championship and the Mastercard PGA Grand Slam on TBS Superstation, and the Sarazen World Open Championship on TNT. Clampett has also covered the United Airlines Hawaiian Open for TBS. Outside of golf and television, Clampett is very involved in community service. He serves as Associate Staff for Search Ministries in Cary, NC. His ministry includes the Open Forum outreach, as well as other group outreaches. He specializes in the training of adults to grow in their relationship with God and to skillfully express that relationship in their homes, neighborhoods, places of employment and leisure pursuits. He is also a part of the NCCAA Bobby Clampett/4Him Pro-Am Golf Classic which raises funds for the NCCAA's mission in reaching student-athletes for Christ as well as sponsoring mission trips throughout the world for Christian athletes..
