Whilk & Miskey are a soulful electronic/pop music duo from London, formed by singer/guitarist Charlie Dickens and producer/instrumentalist Nima Khaste. Before crossing each others paths, Dickens had grown up in Kent mainly listening to classic folk and rock artists, while the Iran-born, Dubai-raised Khaste had an early passion for avant-garde electronica and icy synth-based productions. They met in London, when Khastes band at the time visited the diner where Dickens was working. Dickens was invited to one of the bands shows, where despite their opposing musical tastes, he and Khaste soon realized that they had a strong creative connection. They subsequently became roommates and began writing songs, highlighting Dickens deep, raspy vocals and earthy melodies with Khastes grayscale soundscapes. By the next year, Whilk & Misky began rising in popularity with their moody debut single Wing Clipper. The First Sip EP followed, and the duo landed a deal with Island Records.
