Kristine Meredith Flaherty, known to the music-loving world by her rapper name, K.Flay, is an artist from Illinois. Her career started off with a satirical note when she wrote her first rap song entitled “Blingity Blang Blang,” and writing this song helped her discover her love for writing and creating music. She started experimenting with rap during her time attending Stanford University, and she cites many of the people she met there as influencers of her musical style. She started performing at local venues, along with producing a mixtape created on her laptop entitled Suburban Rap Queen. She later released her album entitled Life of a Dog, after the album was released, it ranked number 14 on the Billboard Rap Albums chart and number 2 on the Heatseeker Albums chart. The success of the album led to several tours with other artists such as AWOLNATION, Dashboard Confessional, and Third Eye Blind, along with a performance on the Warped Tour. Since then, K.Flay has released an album entitled Every Where Is Some Where along with popular songs and singles such as “FML,” “It’s Strange,” and “Blood in the Cut.” She has received two Grammy Award nominations after the release of this album; one for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical; and the other in Best Rock Song for Blood in the Cut. K.Flay is to release her third album, “Solutions” which featured singles “Bad Vibes” and “This Baby Don’t Cry”..
