Over the years, Raines has been a member of the progressive bluegrass band Cloud Valley, has toured and recorded in a duo with Jim Hurst, has been apart of the Claire Lynch Band, has been a member of Helen Highwater Stringband, and has been the leader of her own group, Missy Raines & the New Hip. As a solo artist, Raines has released two studio albums and two studio albums with The New Hip. Apart from her musical career, Raines has also taught the double bass online at the Online Bluegrass Bass School with Missy Raines.
