Cubit was born in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, and he began his career playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school. He went on to accept a scholarship from the University of Delaware and he graduated with a B.S. in business and went on to earn his M.A. in education. He also played college football where he earned Associated press All-American honorable mention and set records for most catches in a game and in a season. Cubit went on to begin his career as a coach after college and began working as the offensive backfield coach at Swarthmore College. Since then, Cubit has gone on to work with several high schools and colleges some of which include UCF, University of Florida, University of Akron, Widener University, Western Michigan University, University of Missouri, Rutgers University, Stanford University, University of Illinois, and more.
