John Clayton is an American NFL sports writer and analyst who has worked for ESPN. Clayton was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania, and he began his career writing and covering sports when he was in high school. He later went on to begin writing about the Steelers training camp for the Daily Press and also began writing about them with Steel City Sports. Clayton then went on to earn his college degree from Duquesne University and while there, began writing for The Pittsburgh Press. After working for the Press, Clayton went on to begin working at The News Tribune where he covered the Seattle Seahawks. Around this time, he also began working on air which led to him working with ESPN as an NFL correspondent. After joining ESPN, Clayton began working as a reporter before working for their weekly radio show. He co-hosted the show “Four Downs,” before leaving ESPN.
