Enigma is a German musical project that was founded by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Over the course of it’s career, the musical project has held members which include Frank Peterson, Sandra Cretu, Andy Kanavan, Peter Cornelius, Jens Gad, and many more. The music is a mixture of worldbeat, new-age, downtempo, electronica, ambient, and experimental and Cretu started the project after releasing several solo music. After coming up with the idea for Enigma, he began working alongside David Fairstein and Frank Peterson. Enigma went on to release their debut studio album, “MCMXC a.D.,” which peaked in the top 10 charts in 10 different countries which included Germany, Australia, France, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. They followed up their debut album with their second album, “The Cross of Changes,” which also gained the same critical acclaim. They then released two more albums which were really popular; “Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!” and “The Screen Behind the Mirror.” Some of Enigma’s most popular singles include “Sadeness (Part I),” “Mea Culpa (Part II),” “Return to Innocence,” and more. Enigma has previously earned the World Music Award for Most Popular German Solo Artist, has sold over 100 platinum albums worldwide, has earned 7 RIAA platinum awards, 5 BPI platinum awards, 2 BPI gold awards, and 2 RIAA gold awards..
