Oluwatobi Feyisara Ajibolade, better known as his stage name TOBi, is a Nigerian-Canadian rapper and singer who was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and is based out of Toronto, Canada. Tobi began writing poetry and lyrics when he was around nine years old and by the time he was a teenager he began competing in rap battles and during this time he actually rap battled Tory Lanez. Before pursuing music full-time, Tobi went on to study biology and psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University. After he decided to pursue a musical career, Tobi began releasing music under the name Tobi Aji before changing it to just TOBi. He then released his own EP, “FYi,” which featured the singles “INDECISIONS” and “Deeper.” The following year Tobi gained attention for the release of his single “Hidden Fences,” which was featured on an episode of the HBO television series “Insecure.” Shortly after, he released singles “City Blues,” “Sweet Poison” and “Werking,” all of which were featured on his debut studio album, “STILL.” Since then, Tobi has released his second studio album, “Elements Vol. 1,” which earned a Juno Award nomination for Rap Recording of the Year. His song “Holiday” was also nominated for Contemporary RnB/Soul Recording of the Year and he also went on to win the SOCAN’s Inaugural Black Canadian Music Award..
