Frontier Ruckus is a Michigan based folk rock and bluegrass band consisting of musician, poet, visual artist Matthew Milia, as well as David Jones on the banjo, and Zachary Nichols. The band formed in Metro Detroit. Matthew and David met while they were at Brother Rice High School. It was here they first began playing music together, combining Matthew’s signature style he was already writing with traditional bluegrass sounds. In 2006, they released their debut “I Am The Water Your Pumping” and two years later, they dropped their debut studio album “The Orion Songbook”. The next year, they released “Way Upstate and the Crippled Summer, pt. 1”, which was followed up two years later by “Way Upstate and the Crippled Summer, pt. 2”. In 2010, they released their sophomore album “Deadmalls and Nightfalls”, which released very positive reviews. In 2013, they released “Eternity of Dimming” and the next year, they dropped “Sitcom Afterlife”. While their last release was “Enter the Kingdom” in 2017, the band remains active and they continuously play shows to this day. Every album was met with widespread praise.
