Nicholas Kerr, a musician from Western New York, created the solo project Guardin, a dark blend of bedroom hip-hop and emo lyrics. Early works by the artist, including the 2015 EPs "Lost in a Fantasy" and "Astral Agenda," explored a variety of musical genres, from chiptunes to witch house. The "Lost and Found" EP from 2016 marked his entry into emo rap, and following EPs let him to hone his joyful, brooding sound before his debut album, "Lacuna," was released in 2017. The Hornell, New York native, who took on the stage name Guardin in 2014, started uploading his productions and then, eventually, songs to streaming services while he was in his mid-teens. The chiptunes EP "Lost in a Fantasy" was published by him in February 2015, and the more ethereal "Astral Agenda" followed in July. Guardin collaborated on a track for "Lost and Found" with producer JF Beats, and when word of his work spread, he continued to extend invitations for partnerships. Chasm made an appearance on track seven of the seven-track album "Ataraxy" in May 2017. Before the year was through, the EPs "[daydream]" and "Take Me Home," as well as his full-length debut, "Lacuna," were released. It was released by AV Records in October of that year and had numerous collaborations with St. Silver, Aidan, and Notmorgan (aka Guccihighwaters).
