M. Ward Booking Agency Profile

Book M. Ward for your next corporate event, function, or private party.
Matthew Stephen Ward is a musician who hails from Portland, Oregon, and is known for his singing, songwriting, and guitar playing. His solo work is a blend of Americana analog recordings inspired by folk music and blues, and he has released ten studio albums since 1999, the majority of which were distributed by the independent label Merge Records. In addition to his work as a solo artist, he is a member of the indie pop duet She and Him as well as the folk-rock supergroup Monsters of Folk. Furthermore, he collaborates in the recording, production, and performance of music with a wide variety of other musicians. M. Ward spent his childhood in Glendale, California, but after graduating from college, he relocated to Portland, Oregon. As he was growing up, Ward taught himself songs by The Beatles on the guitar that belonged to his brother. When he was around fifteen years old, he started making demos on a four-track analog tape recorder. Ward continues to record his music using exclusively analog equipment, and he creates the demo versions of all of his songs using the same recorder that he has owned since he was in his teens. Neko Case released her album "The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You" in 2013, and Ward was one of the guitarists who contributed to the album..
