In his hometown of Tromsø, Norway, house and techno producer Bjørn Torske began experimenting with electronic music in the late 1980's. He was influenced by other Tromsø musicians when he was a teenager, particularly Geir Jenssen, the musical prodigy who would go on to become the ambient pioneer Biosphere. In the early 1990's, Torske began releasing minimalist techno records, mostly going by the moniker Ismistik. He had put out twelve 12-inch singles under various identities, including Krisp and Open Skies, as well as under labels including Djax-Up-Beats and Reinforced Records.
He was already regarded as a Norwegian techno and house pioneer at that point, but the publication of his Nedi Myra record marked his major breakthrough as a producer.
Both the dance music press and house fans thought highly of Nedi Myra. Torske was also a part of Drum Island by the time Nedi Myra was released; this group later evolved into the far more well-known duo Röyksopp. Torske subsequently relocated to Bergen, Norway, yet he never stopped exploring the globe and developed into a top-tier DJ.
After releasing the critically acclaimed album Trøbbel (Tellé Records), he made a comeback with the Feil Knapp LP (Smalltown Supersound), his most experimental release to date.
