Gary Locke is an American politician and diplomat who is currently the Interim President of Bellevue College and is the former 10th United States Ambassador to China under President Barack Obama. Locke was born in Seattle, Washington, and he was a third-generation Chinese American who is the son of James Locke, a former staff sergeant. Over the course of his political career, Locke went on to be the 21st Governor of Washington, the 36th United States Secretary of Commerce, and then the Ambassador to China.
