The group was formed in the mid 70’s and has been performing since then. Atlantic Starr was formed by Duke Jones, Porter Carroll Jr., Clifford Archer, Joseph Phillips, Sheldon Tucker, David Lewis, Wayne Lewis, and Jonathan Lewis. From there, the group was tweaked a bit and then began performing in the nightclub scene under the name Newban before changing it to Atlantic Starr. The band rose to fame after the release of their self-titled debut album, which peaked at number 21 on the US R&B charts. Since then, Atlantic Starr has gone on to release 12 more studio albums over the years.
