John Melendez is perhaps best known as Stuttering John, the Howard Stern foot soldier who, since 1988, has conducted halting celebrity interviews for the nationally syndicated radio show, always asking outrageous questions: At well-attended press conferences he has asked Gennifer Flowers if she planned to sleep with any other presidential candidates, and, of Mike Tyson, How does ear taste In 1994 the Long Island native released his debut album, Stuttering John. The release earned praise from Rolling Stone, which remarked on the sweet, strong kick of his power trio, adding, [John] pens infectious stompers and midtempo ballads that hook and hold on. The album yielded a number one most-added track at college radio, while two of its songs found their way onto movie soundtracks (Ill Talk My Way Out Of It in Airheads and Riverboat in Brainscan). The video for the Ill Talk... single was Top Ten most requested at The Box in the rock category. Since the 1994 release, John, has starred in the Off-Broadway hit Tony & Tina's Wedding, where he met Suzanna, the actress who became his wife and mother of his first child, Greta. His family experiences are reflected in his second release, Everybody's Normal But Me. Stuttering John was hired as a field reporter for the nationally syndicated Howard Stern television show, and he continued his television work for Stern on the highly-rated Howard Stern E! Television Show. John was the sole writer hired for 2013's Kareem Abdul Jabbar Roast, hosted by George Lopez.
