Aaron Lee Tasjan is a folk-rock singer-songwriter, who is distinguished for his unique “indie folk grit”. By the time he was sixteen, Tasjan had shared the stage with Peter Yarrow and won the Outstanding Guitarist Award in the Essentially Ellington Competition at Jazz at Lincoln Center, NYC. He landed a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, but decided instead to make the move to Brooklyn, NY. Tasjan met Justin Tranter, Cole Whittle, and Dan Crean with whom he created the group Semi Precious Weapons. Their music captured the attention of Drivin’ N’ Cryin’s Kevn Kinney, who asked Tasjan to join him on tour as an opening act and guitarist. Following the release of their debut album, We Love You, SPW signed with Razor & Tie Records. Soon after, Tasjan parted ways with SPW and joined New York Dolls as lead guitarist. He also formed his own band, The Madison Square Gardeners, which was hailed by The Village Voice as “The best NYC has to offer.” During Tasjan’s three years with the band, they recorded a studio album and three EPs. Tasjan relocated to Nashville with the goal of focusing on his songwriting and solo career.
