Mickey Edwards is a former US Republican Congressman and Professor. Edwards served as a member of Congress for 16 years where he was on the House Budget and Appropriations Committees and as chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee. Edwards was a regular commentator for NPRs All Things Considered and also was a weekly political columnist for the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times. In addition his writing has been in other publications like New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Miami Herald, and Wall Street Journal. Edwards earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma, and a J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law. Edwards is a board member of the Constitution Project, and the Project on Government Oversight. He has written several books, some of them include, Reclaiming Conservatism, The Parties Verses the People: How to Turn Republicans and Democrats Into Americans, and Winning the Influence Game. Edwards was one of the founding trustees of the Heritage Foundation, and national chairman of the American Conservative Union. After his run with politics, he taught at Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Law School, he was also a visiting professor at Georgetown University. While teaching at Harvard, he was the first John Quincy Adams Lecturer in Legislative Politics. The students also chose him as the outstanding teacher at Kennedy. Edwards has also spoken publicly at several college campuses such as, Boston College, University of Texas, New York University, American University, University of Southern California, University of Notre Dame, Duke University, and University of Iowa. .
