Sam Waterston is an American actor, television producer and television director who is best known for playing Sydney Schanberg in the film “The Killing Fields”, and for playing Jack McCoy on the television series “Law & Order”. Waterston was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and he later earned his B.A. from Yale University where he studied history, French and drama. After graduating, Waterston studied at the Clinton Playhouse as well as the Sorbonne in Paris and the American Actors Workshop. Waterston later made his acting debut playing Mark in the television series “Dr. Kildare”. Since then, his television credits have gone on to include “Oppenheimer”, “Q.E.D.”, “The Nightmare Years”, “The Civil War”, “I’ll Fly Away”, “The Newsroom”, “Godless”, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Grace and Frankie”. Waterston’s film credits include “The Great Gatsby”, “Interiors”, “Crimes and Misdemeanors”, “Serial Mom”, “Nixon”, “The Divorce”, “Miss Sloane” and “On the Basis of Sex”.
