Sugaray Rayford is an American electric blues singer-songwriter from Smith County, Texas. When Rayford was only 7 years old he began singing at the Bethel Temple Church of God In Christ in Tyler, Texas. During this time he also began playing drums at the church before moving to San Diego, California after the loss of his mother. While in San Diego, Rayford began singing with the Urban Gypsys before moving towards blues music and joining the band Aunt Kizy’s Boyz where he was the lead vocalist. The group released two albums and were runners-up in the International Blues Challenge. A few years later, Rayford released his debut solo album, “Blind Alley” and then joined The Mannish Boys. A few years later, Rayford made his on stage debut in the musical ‘It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues’. After moving to Los Angeles, Rayford released his second album, “Dangerous”. Since then, he’s released three more albums. His most recent album, “Somebody Save Me”, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
