Mike Holober is an American jazz pianist, composer, arranger and educator whose various projects includes performing with the Mike Holober Quintet and The Gotham Jazz Orchestra. Holober started his career in New York as a composer and sideman pianist. He later started working with Nick Brignola and together they formed The Mike Holober Quintet. Together, the quintet have released two albums, “Canyon” and “Wish List”. Holober later formed the big band, The Gotham Jazz Orchestra and the group has released three albums, “T hought Trains”, “Quake” and “Hiding Out”. Holober has previously been the recipient of a Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grant. He has also been the musical director of the non-profit Westchester Jazz Orchestra and under his leadership, the orchestra commissioned over 140 new works for jazz orchestra. Holober has also been a professor at The City College of New York, has taught composing and arranging at The Manhattan School of Music and has been an Associate Director of the BMI Jazz Composer’s Worshop..
