Their music is an Afro-Colombian sound that mixes in Latin and European sounds. Monsieur Perine’s lead vocalist, Catalina Garcia, sings in Spanish, French, English, and Portugese and she studied at Paul Valery in Colombia, and also went on to study anthropology at Javeriana University. After the group was formed, Monsieur Perine began performing at local parties and weddings before they gained fame after performing a cover of the movie “Les Triplettes de Belleville”, which won them a competition. Monsieur Perine went on to release their debut studio album, “Hecho a Mano”, which has gone on to be certified gold. Since then they’ve gone on to release two more albums, “Caja de Musica”, and “Encanto Tropical”, both of which earned them Grammy Award nominations.
