Wilfredo Gomez, also known as “Bazooka”, is a Puerto Rican former professional boxer who was a three-time world champion who competed in super bantamweight, featherweight, and super featherweight divisions. Gomez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and as an amateur boxer, he competed in the World Amateur Championships where he won gold, as well as in the Central American and Caribbean Games. During his amateur career, he also competed in the Olympic Games where he was eliminated. Gomez went on to make his professional debut in a draw with Jacinto Fuentes. Over the course of his professional career, Gomez competed in a total of 48 fights, won 44 of them, won 42 by KO, and lost 3. Some of his most notable fights were against opponents such as Dong-Kyun Yum, Royal Kobayashi, Juan Antonio Lopez, Leonardo Cruz, Carlos Zarate, Jose Cervantes, Salvador Sanchez, and more. Gomez has won the WBC and lineal super bantamweight title, has won the WBC featherweight title, and the WBA and lineal super featherweight title.
