While playing with Bayern Munich, Frings helped them to win the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the DFB-Ligapokal and while with Toronto FC, Frings has helped them to win the Canadian Championship. While playing nationally, with Germany, Frings helped them to place third in the FIFA Confederations Cup as well as the FIFA World Cup and also helped them to be runner-up for the FIFA World Cup another year. After retiring as a player, Frings was a youth coach at Werder Bremen before being head coach at Darmstadt 98..
