Tony Mowbray is an English former professional footballer who is currently the head coach of the Championship club Blackburn Rovers. Mowbray was born in Saltburn, England, and he began his career playing for Middlesbrough. After a few years playing with Middlesbrough, Mowbray became captain and helped them be runner-up in the Football League Third Division and place third in the Football League Second Division. He also helped lead them to third place in the Football League Second Division. From there, Mowbray went on to play for Celtic and Ipswich Town and also played for England B’s national team. While with Ipswich Town, Mowbray helped lead them to the Football League First Division Play-Offs and has since been inducted into Ipswich Town Hall of Fame. After retiring as a player, Mowbray has gone on to be an interim coach for Ipswich Town, and head coach for several teams, which include Hibernian, West Bromwich Albion, Celtic, Middlesbrough, and Coventry City. With West Bromwich Albion, Mowbray helped them to win a Football League Champion, and also helped Blackburn Rovers to be runner-up in the Football League One.
