Perkins began his career playing high school basketball where he helped his school to four consecutive district championships as well as one state championship. After the end of his senior season, Perkins was selected to the McDonald’s All-American Game and was considered a five-star recruit by Rivals. He has also been a first-team Parade All-American, second-team All-American, and has been named Texas Mr. Basketball. Perkins went on to play for the NBA immediately after high school and was drafted in the first round with the 27th pick overall by the Memphis Grizzlies. Perkins was then immediately traded to the Boston Celtics where he played for 8 years. Perkins went on to play for teams that include Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Canton Charge.
