Land of Talk is a Canadian indie rock band from Montreal, Quebec, that consists of members Elizabeth Powell, Joe Yarmush, and Andrew Barr. Land of Talk was formed by Powell who previously began her career performing as a solo artist under the name ELE_K*. She eventually began studying at Concordia University’s jazz program where she met Chris McCarron and Mark Wheaton who she originally formed Land of Talk with. From there, they went on to receive funding from the Canada Council Funding for the Arts which led them to release their debut EP, “Applause Cheer Boo Hiss.” This led them to release their debut studio album, “Some Are Lakes.” Since then, Land of Talk has gone on to release two more EPs and three more studio albums over the years. Some of Land of Talk’s most popular songs include “It’s Okay,” “Some Are Lakes,” “This Time,” “Quarry Hymns,” “Loving,” and more. Over the years, Land of Talk has toured with artists and bands such as Broken Social Scene, Wolf Parade, The War on Drugs, Patrick Watson, The Barr Brothers, and have performed at festivals such as NXNE, Brazil’s Balaclava Festival, and more..
