Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and he began his career playing football in high school where he was considered one of the best safeties in the nation and was rated number one by Rivals and Scout. Jones was also a SEC champion and a College World Series champion. After graduating, Jones went on to be selected in the third round of the NFL draft by the New York Giants.
