Zdeno Chara is a Slovakian professional ice hockey defenseman and current captain for the Boston Bruins of the NHL. Chara was born in Trencin, Czechoslovakia, and he began his career playing for teams in Czechoslovakia which include Dukla Trencin, and HC Sparta Praha before being drafted in the NHL Entry Draft by the New York Islanders and then playing with the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.
