Jiri Welsch is a Czech former professional basketball player who has most previously played for the BK Pardubice of the Czech Republic National Basketball League and who has also played in the NBA and has played nationally for the Czech Republic basketball team. Welsch was born in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia, and he began his career playing with BK JIP Pardubice of the Czech Republic League before going on to sign with CSA Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic League before playing with the Union Olimpija Ljubljana of the Slovenian League where he was named the Slovenian League MVP. From there, Welsch was drafted in the first round, 16th overall pick of the NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers but he was immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors. Over the course of his NBA career, Welsch played for the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Milwaukee Bucks. He then went back to play in Europe and has since played for teams which include Unicaja Malaga, Estudiantes Madrid, Spirou Charleroi, CEZ Nymburk, and BK Pardubice.
