Luke Fickell is an American football coach and former professional football nose guard. Fickell was born in Columbus, Ohio, and he began his career playing football in high school where he was a two-time first team All-Ohio defensive tackle. He went on to play college football at Ohio State University where he started in the Rose Bowl and went on to be signed as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints of the NFL. Fickell only played one season in the NFL and had to leave due to tearing his ACL in his knee. Fickell went on to begin working as a coach first working as a graduate assistant with Ohio State University. After a season, Fickell moved on to work as the defensive line coach at Akron and after two seasons, he began a long career working for Ohio State. During his time at Ohio State, Fickell was a special teams coach, linebackers, co-defensive coordinator, and interim head coach. During his time at Ohio State he was also an AFCA Assistant Coach of the Year. Currently, Fickell is the head coach for the University of Cincinnati and since joining them, he has helped them to win one AAC East Division championship and has been named AAC Coach of the Year..
