Liquideep is a soul and house duo that consists of members Jonathan ‘Ziyon’ Hamilton and Thabo ‘Ryzor’ Shokgolo. Liquideep was formed in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the duo met through a mutual friend. After meeting, Ryzor began teaching Ziyon how to DJ and as Ziyon was a producer, he told Ryzor he’d teach him how to produce in exchange. This led them to begin making music together and were shortly after signed to BassBreaks & Beats Records. Liquideep then made their breakthrough with their single “Be Free,” which had airplay. This led Liquideep to release their debut album, “Deep Part I,” which they followed up with “Deep Part II.” They have also released five more albums since and have released several singles that charted at number 1 and four of their albums also charted at number 1. Liquideep has previously earned Album of the Year at the South African Music Awards, have won the Song of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards for “Fairytale,” and have won three Channel O Music Video Awards.
