Redman is an American rapper, DJ, record producer, and actor, who is best known for being one-half of the rap duo, Method Man & Redman, and for previously being a member of the Def Squad. Redman was born in Newark, New Jersey, and after getting in trouble often in his late teenage years, he began working as a young DJ-MC known as DJ Kut-Killa, where he would freestyle over tracks. During this time, Redman was discovered of Erick Sermon of EPMD and Redman then went on to begin touring with EPMD where he was eventually asked to perform a rap freestyle on stage. This led Redman to begin his own solo career and he began producing his first album with Sermon which was “Whut Thee Album.” His debut album went on to peak at number 49 on the Billboard 200 and earned certified gold. He then went on to follow it up with his second album, “Dare Iz a Darkside,” which featured the single “Rockafella.” He has also gone on to release six more albums over the years which include the certified gold albums “Muddy Waters” and “Malpractice” and the certified platinum album “Doc’s da Name 2000.” Some of Redman’s popular songs include “Da Rockwilder,” “Y.O.U.,” “Cisco Kid,” and more. Through his work as Method Man & Redman, the duo released three albums which include “Blackout!,” which reached certified platinum and sold over 1.5 million albums..
