Moon Ribas is a Catalonian avant-garde artist and activist for cyborgs who is known for developing and planting sensors in her feet which lead to her feeling earthquakes through vibrations in the sensors. This has led Ribas to be named the world’s first cyborg woman, or artist. Ribas was born in Mataro, Catalonia, Spain, and she began studying experimental dance in England and earned a degree in choreography from Dartington College of Arts and Movement Research at SNDO Theaterschool. While studying in school, Ribas began to research how to apply sensory extensions onto her body. Her first experiment was the kaleidoscopic vision, where she created and then wore kaleidoscopic glasses for three months which led her to see only color and no shape. She then created earrings that did the same thing and could know how fast not only how fast others were going, but herself as well.
