Alain Prost is a retired French race car driver who has been a four-time Formula One Drivers’ Champion. Prost was born in Lorette, Loire, France, and he began his career in kart racing while only 14 years old upon finding out about the sport while on holiday with his family. He then left school to pursue race car driving full-time and also began working as a kart distributor and worked on tuning engines for money. Shortly after, he won the French senior karting championship which earned him a season with Formula Renault, which led him to win the title and all races except for one in that season. While participating in Formula Three, Prost won the French and European F3 championships which earned him some popularity by groups wanting him to ride with them for Formula One. He then went on to sign with McLaren and made his debut in Formula One finishing in sixth place. In Formula One, Prost went on to win four championships, have 51 total wins, 106 podiums, 41 fastest laps, and raced in 202 races.
