The Horrors are an English rock band from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England, that consists of members Faris Badwan, Tom Furse, Joshua Hayward, Joseph Spurgeon and Rhys Webb. Their music is a mixture of garage rock, punk, indie, and post-punk revival. The band was formed after Webb met Badwan and Furse as the trio all loved garage rock, new wave and post-punk bands and found influence in bands such as Bauhaus and the Birthday Party. They quickly formed a band and shortly after they began recording their debut album, “Strange House,” and performed their first concert in London. They began to rise to fame after the release of their debut single, “Sheena Is a Parasite,” and their second single, “Death at the Chapel,” led to them appeared on the cover of NME and play at the NME Awards Indie Rock Tour alongside bands which included Mumm-Ra, the View, and the Automatic. After the release of Strange House, The Horrors began toured all over the world and performed at festivals which included the Glastonbury Festival, the Summer Sonic Festival, and Splendour in the Grass. They also opened for the Arctic Monkeys and performed at the NME Awards.
