Evvie McKinney is a Christian R&B singer who rose to fame after winning the first season of the reality competition series “The Four: Battle for Stardom.” McKinney was raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and she has previously studied at Stax Music Academy and Soulsville Charter School. Since her rise to fame through The Four, McKinney has signed with Motown’s Gospel label and Capitol’s CMG publishing company. After graduating from Soulsville Charter School, McKinney moved to New York where she began working with her brother, Gedeon McKinney, who was a former American Idol contestant who releases soul music and is the leader of Gedeon Luke and the People. She went on to tour all over the world with her brother before going on to try out for The Four. After signing deals with Motown Gospel and Capitol, McKinney went on to release her debut single, “Bring the Whole Hood,” which was co-written with Meghan Trainor. During her time performing on The Four, McKinney performed songs which included Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary,” and Aretha Franklin’s “I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You.” Since releasing Bring the Whole Hood, McKinney has gone on to release the singles “Just Like God” and “Look No Further.”.
