Blitz Bazawule, also known as Blitz the Ambassador, is a Ghanaian hip-hop rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, filmmaker, and visual artist that is based out of Brooklyn, New York. Bazawule was born in Accra, Ghana, and he studied at Achimota School. While studying in school, Bazawule began earning several awards for his work in visual arts, but later in life, found his love for hip-hop music after hearing a Public Enemy album. Shortly after, he began writing rhymes which earned popularity in school. After graduating, Bazawule began working with producer Hammer of The Last Two and he then recorded a verse for the song “Deeba,” which led him to earn an award for Best New Artist at the Ghana Music Awards. Bazawule then moved to the United States where he studied to earn his bachelor’s in business administration from Kent State University. During this time he also began performing locally, released his debut EP, “Soul Rebel,” and opened for Rakim. After finishing his degree, Bazawule moved to New York City to pursue a musical career full-time. He then released his second EP, “Double Consciousness,” and took a few years off to record music before releasing his debut studio album, “Stereotype.” Since then, Bazawule has released three more albums, “Native Sun,” “Afropolitan Dreams,” and “Diasporadical.” As a filmmaker, Bazawule has released “The Burial of Kojo,” and “Black Is King.”.
