John Brown, better known as his stage name, J. Brown, is an American singer-songwriter from Detroit, Michigan, who is best known for his single “Sunrise Sunset,” which peaked at number 10 on the Adult RnB Billboard charts. Brown found his love for singing while growing up singing in his dad’s church choir. This led him to begin working with the Detroit’s Mosaic Youth Theatre and through there, he went on to sign the National Anthem for local Detroit teams, the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Lions. During this time he also had the opportunity to sing for the former President Bill Clinton. Moving towards a professional career, Brown formed the group E2G with his friends while in high school. The group went on to audition for Wyclef Jean of the Fugees and they then signed to Clef Records/J Records. The group disbanded after a few years and Brown went on to study at Grambling State University on a scholarship. Moving towards a solo career, Brown released his debut single “Imma Love You Right,” which he followed up with “Sex on My Money” the latter of which featured Gucci Mane. Brown has toured with artists which include Trey Songz, Lil Boosie, Ruben Studdard, and he has performed alongside Stevie Wonder. Most recently, Brown has released his debut EP, “Forever Yours.”.
