Livingston Taylor is an American singer-songwriter, and professor, who is best known for his career as a folk musician. Taylor was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and he is the brother of James Taylor, Kate Taylor, and Alex Taylor, all of whom have worked in the entertainment industry. Taylor is best known for his singles “I Will Be In Love With You,” “I’ll Come Running,” and “First Time Love,” all of which have peaked on the Billboard charts. Taylor found his love for folk music at a young age and would make instruments out of household objects such as a broom pole, washtub, garden hose, and cans. He began singing songs with his family at home and began learning to play the banjo. Taylor began performing music for money in the early 60’s and began performing in a trio where he covered hits by popular artists before later earning the opportunity to open for Joni Mitchell. He then was able to sign with Capricorn Artists and from there, Taylor released his debut self-titled album which included his first chart topping single, “Carolina Day.” His debut album also peaked at number 82 on the US charts. Since then, Taylor has gone on to release numerous albums only two more of which peaked in the charts and included “Liv,” and “Over the Rainbow.” Some of Taylor’s other popular songs have included “Carolina Day,” “Loving Arms,” “City Lights,” and “Best Of Friends.” Apart from his career as a perform, Taylor has also been a faculty member at Berklee College of Music..
