Maia, better known as her stage name mxmtoon, is an American singer-songwriter and YouTuber who rose to fame self-releasing her own songs through YouTube. Mxmtoon was born in Oakland, California, and found her love for music at a young age after she began taking violin lessons then cello and trumpet lessons as well. She later tried out for her school’s rock band and they asked her to audition singing which led to her being chosen as a vocalist. Shortly after, mxmtoon began to learn how to play the guitar and she then started her YouTube channel where she began singing and playing the ukulele.
