Charles McKinney better known as his stage name, Chaz Cardigan is an American singer and alternative rock artist who is best known for his breakthrough song, “As I’ll Ever Be,” which was featured on the Netflix film, “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You.” Cardigan was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and while growing up, used creativity to cure his boredom. He would often play piano and listen to pop music with his sister and decided to pursue music after listening to NSYNC and Queen. At only 11 years old, Cardigan bought a tape recorder and began learning how to produce and record while also playing in local punk rock bands. He later uploaded demos to Myspace and tried sending out demos to record labels. As a teenager, Cardigan often traveled between his hometown and Nashville to perform music there. After high school, Cardigan then moved to Nashville full-time to pursue music. After a while, Cardigan began releasing music under the name Spazz Cardigan. He then independently released his debut album, “I,” and then performed at South by Southwest. Since then, Cardigan has opened for Julia Michaels, The Band Camino, and has performed at festivals which include SunFest and Forecastle Festival. He has more recently released two EPs, “Vulnerabilia,” and “Holograma.” Some of Cardigan’s other popular songs include “Not OK!,” “Live A Little,” and “Middle of the Road.”.
