Tamaryn Brown comes from New Zealand, where she lived with her mother and grandmother. They were Junigan psychologists who owned a halfway house for runaway teenagers, thus Tamaryn feels as though she was raised alongside thirty other brothers and sisters. She relocated to the United States when she was a little bit older and was exposed to the music scene. Tamaryn’s debut studio album, “The Waves”, landed in 2010 under the Mexican Summer label. It features her hit song “Love Fades”, a now iconic staple in the indie shoegaze genre. Over the next nine years, she released three additional albums, with “Dreaming The Dark” hitting in 2019 under Dero Arcade. Her music has gone through different iterations, from shoegaze to more of a rock sound. The album “Cranekiss” featuring the track of the same name has also gone on to receive legendary status. It’s a more upbeat song, consisting of a lot of synth and new wave sounds like something out of the 80s or 90s. “Cranekiss” is a bit of darker, melancholic dance pop album that differs greatly from Tamaryn’s earlier work but isn’t any less brilliant. Aside from her own personal music, she has also collaborated with various artists and is even credited as the writer behind Sky Ferreira’s “Downhill Lullaby”..
