Steve Thomas was an ice hockey right winger born in Stockport England. After making his way to Markham, Ontario – where he was raised – Steve got deeply in hockey. He went to Markham District High School, where his love of hockey carried him through graduation. After high school, Steve played junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros and then became a Free Agent for the Toronto Maple Leafs. That’s when his professional hockey career took off, in 1984. During the 1986-87 season, Steve scored 35 goals. Steve went on to play with St. Catharines Saints, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Ducks, and the Detroit Red Wings. Steve eventually became the Assistant and Mentor Coach for the Toronto Jr. A team, St. Michael’s Buzzers. In 2010, Steve became the player development consultant for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He worked alongside his previous Red Wings teammate Steve Yzerman. With this role, he monitored Tampa Bay’s player prospects. Steve did this before becoming the assistance coach for a total of four years. Now, he lives with his wife Lori. Together, they have two children, a daughter and a son. His son Christian Thomas has a contract with the Finnish hockey team KooKoo, following in his father’s footsteps..
