American Nightmare is an American heavy metal and hardcore band hailing from Boston. The band got their start back in the late 90’s and released music until 2004, when they ultimately disbanded. This happened just after they announced that they had cancelled their European tour. Seven years later, American Nightmare got back together and started releasing new music, following two reunion shows. Their first self-titled EP was released in 2000 under the Bridge 9 label. A year later, they released their studio debut “Background Music” under the Equal vision label. It was later re-released under the band name “Give Up the Ghost” and it was again reissued in 2011 under Deathwish Inc. to celebrate the bands reunion. They released two more studio albums: “We’re Down Til We’re Underground” in 2003 under Equal Vision and, most recently, “American Nightmare” in 2018 under Rise Records. Their newest EP “Life Support” was released under Deathwish Inc. In 2022, American Nightmare played a Background Music 20th Anniversary tour, which consisted of them playing the entirety of their first album, the one that launched their careers and put them in the hardcore punk spotlight.
