Bill Evans is a legendary sax player from Illinois. At an early age, he was exposed to music, given that his dad was a musical prodigy who could play the classical piano. Bill took to wind instruments quite quickly. Starting out playing the classical clarinet, he went on to study the saxophone with Vince Micko. Bill went on to study music with at the University of North Texas, as well as William Paterson University, where he studied under the Miles Davis-taught Dave Liebman. When he was only 22, he played alongside Miles Davis himself during his comeback in the 1980s. During the 80s, Bill played in the band Elements, which released its first self-title album in 1982. With them, he released six albums, with the most recent (“Spirit River”) coming out in 1990. As a band leader, he’s released nineteen albums from 1983 (“Moods Unlimited with Hank Jones, Red Mitchell”) to 2016 (“Rise Above”). Bill also collaborated with bands and artists like Steps Ahead, Randy Brecker, Robben Ford, Time Scott, Victor Bailey, Mark Egan, Michael Franks, Jeff Golub, Danny Gottlieb, Chuck Loeb, Leslie Mándoki, Lee Ritenour, Andy Summers, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, Gianfranco Continenza, and, of course, Miles Davis.
