Chiiild is a Canadian experimental indie and psychedelic soul band, led by frontman Yonatan "xSDTRK" Ayal and Pierre-Luc Rioux. The band has signed to Avant Garden Records after the massive success they experienced since their formation in 2017. Chiiild released their debut EP “Synthetic Soul” in 2020. Chiiild is a collaborative experimental band and their work has been likened to a "genre-bending" production. With that said, they’ve adopted many different styles, drawing inspiration from things like soul music, RnB, psychedelia, jazz, indie, and pop. Their large and adoring fanbase has referred to their textural sound as “synthetic soul.” Chiiild cites artists like D'Angelo, Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, The Notorious B.I.G., Brandy, Wu-Tang Clan, Fleetwood Mac and Moby as some of their biggest influences. In 2021, they released their very first studio album “Hope for Sale” under the label(s) Avant Garden/Island. The album is a celebration of life that Ayal has created for himself, along with the multi-generational journey it took. He was raised as a first-generation Canadian-Ethiopian in Montreal, so he acknowledges the struggles that his parents and grandparents had to endure for him to get to this level of success.
