Olivia Jean is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is the lead singer of the gothic rock and garage band the Black Belles. She also has a successful solo career. Growing up in Detroit inspired her garage rock sound and she was writing and recording music when she was very young. Olivia was only seven when got her first guitar which was the first stepping stone towards her picking up and playing multiple instruments, which made recording music a lot more efficient for her. Jack White (whom she would later marry) received a demo of hers at a Dead Weather show and soon invited her to come record with him at Jack’s own recording label Third Man Records. At this time, Olivia was introduced to several other musicians and, together, they formed the Black Belles. Eventually, she did start recording her solo music again, making her solo studio debut in 2014 with “Bathtub Love Killings” and then followed the success of this record up with 2019’s “Night Owl”.
