Cy Curnin is a British musician and composer who was given the name Cyril John Curnin. He is most recognized for being the New Wave band The Fixx's lead singer. While taking acting classes in college, he met Fixx drummer Adam Woods. They established the Portraits as their band in 1979. Before changing to The Fixx, they recorded two albums under that moniker. The band performed well in the US, Canada, and UK with the new moniker. In 2005, Curtin released his first solo album, "Mayfly," followed by his four other solo albums and two EPs: “The Returning Sun”, “The Solar Minimum”, “Cinema For The Blind EP”, “The Horses' Mouth”, “Lockdown”, and most recently the “Superseded” EP. Curnin began his involvement with the Love Hope Strength Foundation in 2007. A music-based charity, that is. He has taken part in performances at the Everest, Machu Picchu, and Pikes Peak base camps to raise money and awareness for treatment centers in off-the-grid locales. Cy took part in a hike to the Mount Everest base camp in Nepal alongside Mike Peters from The Alarm, Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze, and Slim Jim Phantom from Stray Cats. Since then, Curnin has taken part in treks with the LHSF to Machu Picchu, Pike's Peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Everest once again in December 2012..
