Former NBA basketball player Frederick Terrell Jones is American. He competed in college basketball for the Oregon Ducks, and at the 2004 NBA All-Star Game, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Born in Malvern, Arkansas, Fred Jones relocated to Portland, Oregon when he was in middle school. While attending Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, a suburb of Portland, he won the Oregon High School Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years. Later, he played four seasons at the University of Oregon, where he helped the Ducks reach the Elite Eight in his senior season with the aid of guard Luke Ridnour and forward Luke Jackson. Despite being widely regarded as a failure during his first three years at Oregon, Jones suddenly gained national attention as a senior after averaging 18.6 points per game and running for Pac-10 Player of the Year. Jones signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on December 28, 2008. On January 5, 2009, he was released, but the Clippers later re-signed him to a 10-day deal. Jones learned that the Clippers would re-sign him for the remainder of the season on January 28, 2009, and they did so the next day. On April 15, 2009, Jones played in his final NBA game, an 85–126 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder in which he tallied 8 points and 5 assists..
