Long Island, New York-based post-hardcore band Envy on the Coast. Lowcountry, their second studio album, was made available in March 2010. Although not under that name, Envy on the Coast's members started performing together in 2003. Ryan Hunter took over for Brian Byrne initially after Brian left New York to attend Berklee College of Music. The band added drummer Dan Gluszak in 2005, and in July of same year, they performed at their first concert in public. The last time Ryan and Brian performed EOTC songs was on April 4, 2016, when they gave an encore performance of "Gift of Paralysis" and "Like I Do" at a 1ST VOWS concert at Webster Hall. On January 20, 2017, Envy On the Coast announced their first headlining tour of the year, which would honor Lucy Gray's 10th anniversary and include a performance at So What Music Festival. They also hinted at a 2017 album release. Envy on the Coast's 'Ritual' EP, their first in seven years, was released in June 2017. Envy on the Coast's "Alive After All," a 26-song live album with the complete performances of Lucy Gray and Lowcountry, was published in May 2019. Ryan John produced and mixed the album. The first single from Brian Byrne and Ryan Hunter's new endeavor, Violent Joy, "Indian Summer," was released in June 2019. In January 2020, their EP, which includes "Indian Summer," was released.
